For years, my old fuel filter bracket was held together with stuff from a local hardware store … a hose clamp, some zip ties, and a desire for something better. It’s a problem all of us “old body style” owners have dealt with since the early 2000s as NOS part inventories dwindled and more and more parts became discontinued. When I had to replace my fuel tank and all my metal lines, I decided I wanted to do the job right from start to finish. I was surprised, with millions of these trucks still on the road, that nobody was producing the brackets and clips to secure the lines properly to the frame. After removing what was left of my plastic pieces, and researching a BUNCH of images and applications on forum posts, I finally decided to make my own brackets – with four requirements – they had to be stronger than factory, they had to fit exactly like OEM, they had to exude quality, and they had to meet the government’s Made in USA standards. My truck has always gotten the best, and this was no exception. That’s why it’s still on the road in top condition over 30 years later.
Thanks to a number of great guys in the GMT400 community, a passion project and a quest to solve my problem turned into an opportunity to join the aftermarket car parts community. Overnight, I had requests pouring in for my bracket kits from guys all in the same predicament. So I began making my parts in small batches. These parts are not just copies, and they are not cheap offshore imports. Each part is redesigned from scratch to fit like the OEM part, but engineered to be stronger. The manufacturing process is a family effort with my wife and kids that uses American-made raw material. If a part doesn’t look right or has any flaw, it is discarded – period. Our goal is to get it right and provide quality and value. All of our products are proudly designed, tested, and made in Richmond, Virginia, USA.
Old Body SOS Parts is the only maker of fuel and brake line brackets for 88-2000 OBS GM Trucks that look and fit like an OEM part. We’re always looking for something new, so if you need something similar that’s not listed, even if for a GM square body or something newer, don’t hesitate to fill out a contact form and I’ll see whether it’s possible.
Patents pending.
